About FICO® Scores
Your credit score is the main number that lenders use when considering your loan or credit request. Your credit score can determine if you get a loan, and the amount of credit the lender is willing to loan.
FICO is the name of the company that produces the FICO® Score. The score is based on credit information reported by credit agencies, the three largest of which are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. In creating the score, FICO considers your payment history; your debt burden, including the ratio of your current debt to your credit limits and the number of accounts you have with balances; the length of your credit history; the types of credit you use, like revolving, installment or mortgage loans; the number of times you or vendors have recently searched for credit score information. The score is reported as a number between 300 and 850, with 850 being the best.
